Common entry points into the profession of international higher education entail starting as a student worker in one of the many international programs offices, especially if you are an international student or study abroad alumnus. You may seek out internship positions to also gain experience and gain an advantage in the hiring pool once a full-time position becomes available. Frequent entry-level positions are labeled as “advisor”, “coordinator” or “program manager”. While Master’s degrees are preferred for entry-level positions, a Bachelor’s degree may also suffice, especially combined with relevant travel experience.
